Youth Theatre Camp 2009

The camp will run this summer from July 6th to July 19th.

Cow Patti will be offering the youth of our community the opportunity to be involved in a camp where the focus will be empowering them with confidence, humor and compassion by using their idea’s, talents and voices through the mediums of theatre and film. This year during the camp we will be fusing two mediums; theatre and film. Over the course of the theatre camp we will rehearse, produce and stage a theatre production that will be charted and documented on film, ending with a pilot episode of a youth reality television show.

There are a lot of reality shows out there that demonstrate to our youth, what I believe to be a false realism of what their world is really about. They depict and glamorize a falsehood that only teaches our children entitlement. My hope with this project is to show our audience and the kids at camp that theatre is a wonderful way to entertain, enlighten and teach a message that is honest and can truly be a “reality” for our youth while boosting their emotional intelligence [E.Q.].

Throughout the two weeks we will touch on many aspects of theatre and film which will include: script development, character work, speech and movement, set design and performance as well as commentary from the children that will take us through the intellectual side of this process. The children will have the opportunity to work with Canadian theatre professionals that will visit our camp and also experience a “run” of their show which will include a five performances.

The camp will run July 6th 2009 till July 19th 2009 at the Glen Building in Cornwall, Ontario. The camp will be Monday through Friday from 9:00am till 5:00pm for the two weeks. On the second week we will also work through the weekend staging the show for audiences and the purpose of filming the pilot episode of the production. The cost of the camp will be $400.00 which includes: two weeks [95 Hrs] of stage and film training, morning and afternoon snacks, a Cow Patti T Shirt, a photo shoot and resume workshop with copy, a session with an Ottawa based talent agent. The camp will be lead by AnnaMarie Lea and a team of professional actors and technicians.

Over the last three years our camp has been time-honored with great admiration and success, the children that have been  a part of Cow Patti in past have been enlightening, delightful and aspiring. I look forward to working with the youth of our community once again. Space is limited so please inquire soon.

Youth Theatre Camp 2008 - Recap

The Cow Patti Theatre Company is proud of all the young calves that attended our 2nd annual Youth Theatre Camp, held July 7th through July 13th 2008 at the Glen Building in Cornwall, Ontario

We had a full house participating in Cow Patti’s youth theatre camp and the overall result was an extremely positive experience for everyone involved.

This youth theatre camp was open to children ages 9 though 15 who had little or a lot of theatre experience. The camp was designed for 20 children to come together over a one week period to work together developing their acting skills. This year the camp was geared in the medium of radio and television. As with the previous year, the importance of having the children’s voices be heard and for them to take ownership of a project was first and foremost. This year our focus was their creativity being explored through the medium of radio and television. Initially, time was spent on acting techniques for radio and film. Professionals in this industry visited our camp and held workshops with the children. Script development workshops also took place with the result being a series of radio and television ads being written, directed, filmed and acted by the children They were taught and guided through this experience by AnnaMarie Lea, founder, director and producer of Cow Patti and professional actor for 23 years.
