Youth Theatre Camp 2010

The camp will run this summer from July 12th to July 25th.

The Cow Patti Theatre Company is in pre production for their Summer Youth Theatre Camp 2010. This will be our fourth year in Eastern Ontario and “Head Cow” [AnnaMarie Lea’s] 16th year working with children throughout Northern, Western and Eastern Canada. AnnaMarie has enjoyed used the tool of theatre to empower and delight countless children of many different backgrounds and cultures.

Last year our Youth Theatre Camp saw 36 children come together and create a very heartwarming story based on three Robert Munsch books The show was entitled “MUCH MORE MUNSCH” and throughout the course of the two week camp we combined their imagination, talents, and their voices which resulted in an experience that, I am sure, they will carry with them for a very long time. The impact we had on our audiences over the run of the play was astounding and awe-inspiring.

This year during the camp our focus will be a “A HEALTHY DOSE OF LAUGHTER AND DREAMS” we will use the tool of comedy to stimulate success and joy not only for the theatre kids but for our audiences. In past years we have worked on some serious issues and heart tugging moments in our camp. With life being what it is, whether 85 yrs or 11 yrs we all could probably shed a tear at a moment’s notice, so our goal this year is to put the “tragedy” aside and focus on the “comedy” of theatre The show we will be staging is entitled “Pig Percival the Dreamer" a wonderful story that will take the audiences through Percivals journey of leaving the farm and heading to Hollywood. Every character whether human or animal will have a Happy Dream and behind every cast member there will be an actor who will create the story of that happy dream The interesting twist of this show is that not only will the audience enjoy this wonderful show but they will have front row seats watching what goes on back stage prior, during and after the show- kind of along the lines of the world renowned play -”Noises Off”

We will be bringing in many professional talents to work with the kids again this year and we will be in a new space since sadly the Glen Building is no longer available but we look forward to new adventures with Mark Owen at DreamBuilders Studio’s . The camp will run Monday through Friday from 9:00am till 5:00pm and in the second week the camp will continue through the whole weekend to accommodate the run of the show.  We will be accepting 30 children this year and we already have many returning from last year! Acceptance is on a first come first serve bases- so interested families should respond. .

“In early youth, as we contemplate our coming life, we are like children in a theatre before the curtain is raised, sitting there in high spirits and eagerly waiting for the play to begin.”
