Youth Theatre Camp 2012
Clive, Alberta
The camp will run this summer from July 23rd to August 5th.
“In early youth, as we contemplate our coming life, we are like children in a theatre before the curtain is raised, sitting there in high spirits and eagerly waiting for the play to begin.”
Cow Patti’s Professional Youth Theatre Camp is open to all interested actors between the ages of 5 to 17 yrs. The camp will take place from July 23rd through August 5th 2012. AnnaMarie Lea has been a professional actor and director for 28 years and has been working with youth throughout Northern, Western and Eastern Canada for the past 19 years. She has enjoyed using the tool of theatre to empower and delight countless children of many different backgrounds and cultures. Being directed by professionals in the field will enable the young actors to learn many acting skills and theatre techniques along the way which will serve them well not only as actors but as young adults working toward self-assurance, group responsibility, commitment and affability.. This gives our young actors the opportunity to experience and enjoy their moment in “professional theatre”
The camp will run Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm for the first week and the second week will be the same except on the second Friday we will open the show and run all weekend during Clive’s Centennial Celebration. The cost of the camp is 350.00 and includes 80 hrs. of training, t-shirts and morning and afternoon snacks.
It will be an powerful two weeks and the reward of their efforts will be immeasurable and to perform in this significant production will be a moment they will hold dear for many years to come.
A Synopsis of the Play:
It’s 1912 and Lilly’s family is moving to Canada to homestead in the great open fields of Central Alberta near the small new village of Clive. Lily’s doll, Frances is so excited to be on such a great adventure with her loving owner and though the family doesn’t realize it, the journey to this new land will be one of sorrow, joy, love and belonging.
In celebration of Clive’s 100 year Centennial The Cow Patti Theatre Company is honored to present, “The Journey to Belonging”. A play that will take us along the 100 years of Clive’s history through the eyes of a very special doll and though early on in the story she is separated from her family as they travel across the Atlantic ocean, she is determined to find her way to Clive Alberta and will do anything through her journey to belong.
