A “PLOP” ABOUT THE PLAY...

It won’t be IRON CHEF or an episode of CAKE BOSS but we guarantee you that it will be the funniest drunken food fight you’ll ever see on stage. You’ve all heard about Chris Angel - well, our Walter in “COOKIN’ WITH GUS” tops him with his amazing hypnosis powers and what he is able to get his wife and next door neighbour to do...well, we don’t want to give anything away but yes it is possible for humans to lay eggs!

Gussie Richardson is a famous food columnist and cookbook author. Her agent comes to tell her she's been offered her own daily network television show. She wants to do it, but her husband Walter is dead set against it and Gussie discovers she has stage fright and can't open her mouth in front of a camera. Everybody tries to help her get over it... Walter through hypnotism, Bernie her agent by threats and even wacky Gypsy Carmen from next door casts spells. Cookin' with Gus brings together four unlikely characters in a stew of hijinks and hilarity.

WHAT THE “FOOD” CRITICS SAID...

“If laughter is the best medicine then all doctors should write a prescription to The Cow Patti Theatre Company.”

“My wife tells me I need more “culture” This is the best way to get it”. C.P.T.C. 2009

"Playwright Jim Brochu has taken a fairly improbable situation and, with his knack for hilarious put-downs, snappy comebacks and zingy one-liners, whipped them into a delicious comic soufflé”.

“Letter from the Head Cow”

I have produced, directed and performed in “Cookin’ with Gus” more than any other play in my 26 years in this business. Why? Because it is a wonderful love story, has hilarious characters for both audience and actor, hundreds of side splitting belly laughs and a whole bunch of mouth watering food on and off stage! It’s a show for young and old alike and with the escalation in popularity of cooking shows on TV, I thought it was the perfect time to bring this dynamite piece of comedy theatre back to the Cow Patti stage.
At Cow Patti we strive to cultivate Canadian talent, generate business for our local economy and stimulate the consciousness for the needy and I credit the accomplishment of these three things, in large, due to the support of you our audience! I personally would like to welcome you all to come on out to “Cookin’ with Gus”, at the lovely Ramda Inn, and join the “herd” for a deliciously, - moo-nificant time!

FROM THE PASTURES

This will be Cow Patti’s 8th year in Cornwall and we are pleased with the way the “Farm” has grown. Last season we saw audiences grow to over 4000 people ranging from age 4 to 94. We welcomed a new crop of audiences who came out to Cow Patti from areas such as Quebec, the U.S.A. and the Ottawa region. Along with the generous support of our partner the Ramada Inn and Conference Centre, we have now raised over $80,000! Our latest gift was during our Youth Theatre Camp production of “Much More Munsch” the children started a community project where all new mothers in our region will receive a gift copy of Robert Munch’s “Love You Forever”.

And we aren’t stopping now!
