The Cow Patti Theatre Company is preparing their stage for their 19th season of Professional Comedy Dinner Theatre at the lovely Lacombe Golf and Country Club in Lacombe Alberta. This season it was decided that our lineup of shows will focus on humor and heart. As entertainers, we feel it is imperative to give our audiences what they want and deserve and this is why we have chosen shows with comedy and sentiment. It’s a tough old world and there is always something for us to deal with so we are determined to continue giving our audiences stories with characters and situations that make us laugh and fill our hearts with faith, hope and love.
Our first show of the season Ethan Claymore is written by Mr. Norm Foster, our most produced Canadian playwright. Mr. Foster penned this show in 1998 and we at Cow Patti are thrilled to be telling this story especially during our Christmas time slot, for it is a story that deals with the very heart of Christmas: family, friendship, love and a few miracles….
We are very excited to announce, for the first time in Cow Patti’s history, Ethan Claymore will be the professional debut for four young actors from Lacombe AB and area: Seventeen year old Ryan Scheltus will be playing the role of Young Martin. Twelve year old Levi Derowin, Triston Hanrahan and 10 year old Corbin Pearson will be sharing the role of Young Ethan. Ethan Claymore is set in 1975 in rural Alberta and the play flashes back to when Ethan and his brother Martin were young boys in the 1940’s. The play not only takes us on a journey through time, but gives us insight to life and dreams- whether those dreams are to be successful hockey players, egg farmers, artists or finding forgiveness and love. As mentioned, one of the dreams is of becoming an artist and we are so pleased to have commissioned two Lacombe Composite High School art students, Sofia Capettini and Thomas Waddell to create the two paintings that are integral to the plot of Ethan Claymore.
We have a Steller cast lined up for Ethan Claymore, besides our extremely talented young fellas, we have Brain Young of Toronto, ON playing the lead- struggling egg farmer, Ethan Claymore, Brian has often been seen on the Cow Patti stage. He was last seen during our 2012/13 Season in the Men’s Foursome. As well, last seen in The Foursome, the very funny Mr. Edward Chaplin who will be playing Ethan’s best friend and boisterous pig farming neighbor, Douglas McClaren. Both these actors have been in the business for over 30 years and their comic timing and depth will bring this extraordinary show to life. Joining Brian and Ed will be a Cow Patti favorite, Ms. Susan Greenfield playing the role of the new local school teacher, Teresa Pike. Susan is probably most noted for her performance as Florence in The Odd Couple female version during our 2012/13 Season. To add a little spice we have cast Mr. Allan Cooke playing the role of the spirit of Ethan’s brother Martin and used car salesman. Allan recently moved to Canada from London, England and is very excited to come to Alberta for his first ever visit and meet all us fine Alberta folk!
The economic landscape is ever-changing in Central Alberta but bottom line, Cow Patti is committed in continuing to fuel the tourism and recreational engine. This season we’re offering folks in Central Alberta an instant vacation that will be easy on their wallet. An all-inclusive escape at the Lacombe Golf and Country Club that will include the best AAA Prime Rib in all of Alberta, delectable desserts, professional comedy entertainment and our famous “Plop Drop” competition.
For nineteen years now, Cow Patti has made it part of their mandate to use the tool of professional theatre to enhance our community, whether that community be in our back yard or across continents. Last season with our productions of Who’s Under Where? and The Ladies Foursome we raised 42,945.44!
